An original, semi-modernized musical adaptation of Shakespeare's classic romance.

Since its premiere in Vienna in 1992, the musical "Elisabeth" has been performed all over the world. In Japan, "Elisabeth" was first performed by the Takarazuka Snow troupe in 1996, prior to the first performances in other countries. A total of 10 versions of the musical have been performed by different troupes, making it one of Takarazuka Revue's most popular musicals. The "Elisabeth TAKARAZUKA 25th Anniversary Special Gala Concert" was held in 2021 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Snow troupe's first performance.

A revue focused on America from the 1920s to the 1950s - good old Broadway, magnificent Follies, glorious jazz and the glimmer of Manhattan. It combines a mature flair with a fresh, vigorous spirit, and is based on the theme of America at a time when the myth of high society was still alive.

The numerous words of truth spun by this revolutionary poet became poems for eternity. Even today, they continue to shine light on the hopes that rest in people's hearts. The tidal wave of the times, when everyone believes that the ideal kind of society has arrived, will in time move in the wrong direction. Ironically, Andrea and Maddalena will be joined together by a thing called love. Idealism, which has been pushed to the forefront of reality, is toying with Gérard's life. This show represents the beginning of another era for the Star troupe with the emergence of the troupe's top star, Makoto Rei, and a fresh start led by a new top pair comprising of herself and Hitomi Maisora. Kusunoki Masatsura, a warlord of the Southern Court, knows the court is approaching its downfall while spending his days fighting against the Northern Court along with his younger brothers: Masatoki and Masanori. Along the way Masatsura meets Ben no Naishi and the two fall in love. The full-blown cherry blossom season arrives, and with a decisive battle looming Masatsura wonders what he is fighting for.
