So, here comes the long-waited train to our station. We've been waiting for him for more then a century, hoping for free decision of old, as cinematography itself, theme. During that time the world's been changing, TV grown up, virtual art started to cry in its curable, and the train were coming and coming. While raining, we were dancing rumba and felt a terrible jealousy to old Lumiers. They, pioneers, could easy found themes and decisions. And we? What's the fate of our missed generation? Everything has been already shouted. Everything. Even that, for what normal man wouldn't give a piece of film. So what we had to do? Dance rumba. Besides, right on the station, under the rain falling down. Because everyone should be glad and all "classic" fears should be lost. Oldmans waited the train to shoot its coming for the first time, and we also will wait and shoot. Why not? The cinema started with train, we ourselves started with cinema (I mean art birth), so that's why we had a complete right for some liberties. At last, who quilts we are not like other, normal passengers and even wears different clothes? Not only family and school, but cinema prophesies too. They shouted people in much mute extraordinary clothes. And what about passengers - they are consumers. They are really not same as we are, because have a clear knowledge where art finishes and life starts. So that's why we shoot the train's coming again, while passengers walking around. But suddenly here comes an angry male with the face of degenerate, and everything really stops. Because angry males don't care about development of world cinematography. Maybe, we all died, and felt no pain nor fear. Any case, not such terrible as first seance on Caputines Blvd.
A man entranced by his dreams and imagination is lovestruck with a French woman and feels he can show her his world.
Inspired by Goethe's early romantic play Clavigo, Roland Petit's ballet recounts the agonies of a weak-willed lover torn between the contradictory promptings of his heart and his evil spirit, which urges him to serve his own interests and forsake true love in favor of a life of debauchery. Recorded live at the Opera National de Paris, Palais Garnier, October 1999.
An experimental docu-fiction short from hours of collected material shot by the director. Different scenes, from drunk parties with friends to shots of the Dutch landscape during a train ride, are cut together to see if a narrative story can be constructed from nothing but randomly shot footage.
In this child's game, a live-action boy and girl draw characters and compete who is better. The girl draws a flower and the boy draws a car that runs it over. Then a drawn lion chases a drawn girl, until it all becomes frightfully serious.
The story begins the day before the graduation ceremony. Five middle school girls each are preoccupied with their real everyday lives. These girls meet each other in a fantasy world after being sent there through a sudden occurrence. There, they learn about the impending crisis that this world is facing. The way to avert this crisis is for the five to collaborate and bring their five hearts together as one through dance. However, the five cannot come to love the world, and cannot tell their true feelings to one another, so their hearts are unable to unite. The time limit is fast approaching. Can the dance of the five girls save the world? And will they be able to graduate?
The purity of classical dance meets the opulant exoticism of the Maharajas' India in this 150-year-old ballet, glorified by Nacho Duato for the Mikhailovsky Ballet.
you are here with me and so the following things exist: light, tension, music this is the logic of our moment I have now. I have stars. I have you.
