Plot : Dare Rudd takes a shine to his cattleman cousin Tom's girlfriend who asks Tom to hire Dare to head the big cattle drive. Dare loses the money for the drive to cardsharps, but Tom wins it back, but Dare must save Tom's life.

A gentle little runner, this, for John Wayne - a cattle drive taking the herd to Montana encounters some pretty predictable obstacles en route. It's got some fun one-liners, some good gun-fights and all-in-all, moves along well for the hour or so it takes to coral the beeves.

He, aided by Tad Sloan (Fuzzy Knight), produces the wire by make-shift methods, but it proves effective. The cattleman charge in court that the wire is dangerous to their herds but lose the case. Austin orders his men to seize Bill, bale him in strands of the wire, and throw him on the stage of the town hall during a fall festival. Bill doesn't take kindly to this and it precipitates open war.
