The news media catches on and starts following him.

We are not only responsible in our lives for everything that we do, but also for everything we say, we think and desire.

It's autumn in New York. Sam has broken up with his girlfriend and his father has recently died. World-weary and sloppy drunk, he finds temporary solace in the arms of Anna, a mysterious vampire who draws him away from his friends and into a web of addiction and madness.

Everything is about to change when Andrew Harrington arrives at the company to take over from his grandfather and he has a very different view of the holidays.

He's managed to keep it secret until New Year's Day, when his car breaks down and his sister Rachel shows up to help him fix it.
