When the seven-year-old daughter of an architect falls ill with a rare but curable form of cancer, the family wants to give the child the best possible treatment. Unfortunately, they decide against chemotherapy in favor of a gentle natural remedy. When the hospital doctors notice that the child's condition is deteriorating, the necessary race against time can only begin once the parents are convinced of the effectiveness of conventional therapy.

Part 1 of a 2-part romance based on a story by noted author Kikuchi Kan. The central character here is Toyomi (played by Takako IRIE, star of Mizoguchi’s "Water Magician), a rich young woman in love with Shintaro (Minoru TAKADA), a rich young man. Unfortunately, Shintaro’s father is in the process of arranging a marriage for him with Yurie (Chieko TAKEHISA), the scion of an even wealthier family. In order to avoid this, the two young lovers flee to Tokyo to live together. When Shintaro comes back to proclaim his intent to marry Toyomi, his father browbeats him into attending the long-arranged marriage meeting with Yurie. While Shintaro is back home, Toyomi goes on a vacation trip with her closest chum, Michiko (Yumeko AIZOME). At a class reunion, Toyomi is to distressed (at not having heard from Shintaro for so long), she doesn’t go out on the town with her classmates. Michiko, however, runs into Shintaro and Yurie (also out on the town), and pulling him aside, demands an explanation.

Scattered memories of love and loss are relived in the rooms of the apartment where they were first experienced.

Susana is a citizen who resides somewhere in Mexico City. Throughout this story, Susana goes through the adversities of living with an abusive father, while she is waiting for her boyfriend to escape from her. These elements are what lead to a tragic conclusion.

A woman, distraught because of her recent miscarriage, accidentally injures a child in a hit-and-run accident, but she keeps the incident a secret. Overcome with guilt and remorse, she seeks out the child in the hospital and attempts to help him regain his speech, even though, if successful, it might mean he will implicate her for the crime.

Exchanged gazes result in a day long chase on a beach.
