Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery

UFC 146: dos Santos vs. Mir was a mixed martial arts (MMA) pay-per-view event (PPV) promoted by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on May 26, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card featured five MMA bouts which were shown on PPV, as well as seven preliminary bouts which were shown on FX, and Facebook. This was the first time in UFC history that the main card featured all heavyweight bouts.

Bellator LXIV took place on April 6, 2012 at Caesar’s Windsor in Windsor, Ontario & was distributed live in prime time by MTV2. It hosted two of the opening round bouts of Bellator's Season Six Bantamweight Tournament.

Bellator LX took place on March 9, 2012 at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. It was expected to take place on March 2, but the season opener was pushed back one week.

Bellator LXI took place on March 16, 2012 at Horseshoe Riverdome in Bossier City, Louisiana. Background The event was to feature the rematch between season-five heavyweight tournament finalists Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos. Prindle and Santos met in the finals of Bellator's season-five heavyweight tourney, but the bout was ruled a no-contest when Santos inexplicably kicked a downed Prindle in the groin. However, on March 15, Bellator announced the fight had been pushed back a week to Bellator 62 due to Prindle having "flu-like symptoms." This event marked the first time that Bellator Fighting Championships aired in Brazil on TV Esporte Interativo.

Bellator LXII took place on March 23, 2012 at Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. The event hosted the opening round of Bellator's Season Six Lightweight Tournament. Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos were supposed to have their rematch of the Season Five Heavyweight Tournament Final on this card, after having been delayed a week from Bellator 61. Santos, however, failed to make weight and the bout was cancelled, and Prindle was awarded the tournament win by default. A scheduled fight between Cosmo Alexandre and Oscar de la Parra was also scrapped.

Bellator LXIII took place on March 30, 2012 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The event hosted the opening round of Bellator's Season Six Welterweight Tournament. War Machine was expected to fight Karl Amoussou in the opening round of the welterweight tournament. However, War Machine was sentenced to a year in prison and was forced out of the bout and the tournament.

Royal Arena 1 was a mixed martial arts event held on March 10, 2012 at Broendby Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The main card was broadcasted live on TV 2 Sport & the undercard streamed on the website of the Danish tabloid newspaper, Ekstra Bladet. It featured two middleweight tounament bouts: Mikkel Parlo vs. Marcin Tondryk & Nic Osei vs. Simon Carlsen. A highly anticipated welterweight match between Nicolas Dalby & Mikkel Guldbæk was cancelled due to a knee injury sustained by Guldbæk during training. Dalby instead faced Spanish top prospect Acoidan Duque.

UFC on FX 3: Johnson vs. McCall 2 was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on June 8, 2012, at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Because of a scoring error at UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann, a majority draw between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall was mistakenly announced as a victory for Johnson. Dana White announced the error following the conclusion of the event and that Johnson and McCall would have a rematch.

The five-year-old Florida Marlins combined the wily leadership and manager Jim Leyland with a team built through shrewd draft picks, trades, and talented free agents. They won the National League wild card-then became the first wild card team to reach the World Series by sweeping the Giants and shocking the Braves. The Cleveland Indians were a far different team than the one that battled in the 1995 World Series. This year, nobody expected them to beat the Yankees or the Orioles-but somehow they did. And so, these two underdog warriors slugged it out in the heat and snow of the World Series until they reached that quintessential moment-Game Seven. Even then, it went on-into the 11th inning-the second longest Game Seven in history-before Edgar Renteria sent all of Florida into a state of delirious celebration.

UFC on Fox 3: Diaz vs. Miller was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on May 5, 2012 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Former PRIDE heavyweight kingpin Fedor Emelianenko returns to the ring for the first time this year when he meets three-time UFC title challenger Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo. Emelianenko, once the sport's pound-for-pound best, looks to run his current win streak to three since suffering a trio of losses under the Strikeforce banner.
