A naive young college student, who is majoring in chemistry, is persuaded by her roommates and a would-be drug dealer to make LSD for them, and she winds up getting caught up in the "acid" lifestyle.

The investigation of two horrific mass murders leads to the capture and trial of the psychotic pseudo-hippie Charles Manson and his "family".

Michael (Jeff Bridges) drops out of college with the intention of finding himself. When his parents (Carl Betz and Vera Miles) balk, he talks them into joining him in traveling the country and educating themselves about the state of things. They, along with Grandma (Ruth McDevitt) trick out an old Greyhound bus and hit the road. The picaresque plotline brings the family into contact with a variety of colorful characters. The producers of In Search of America never declared outright that the made-for-TV film was intended as a series pilot, but it ends on an ambiguous note with plenty of loose plot ends. Directed by Koreyoshi Kurahara in 1971, Sunset Sunrise (Hi wa shizumi, hi wa noboru) is a “hippie” road movie chronicling the trek that a handful of people take in order to reach Katmandú, the capital of Nepal.

Two attractive girls pick up a young female hitch-hiker, new to the city. They give her some advice and directions to her destination, the beach house of an old friend. After purchasing more attractive clothing she is picked up and assaulted. Narrowly escaping, she finds herself on a beach crowded with weird hippies, bums and police. Finally she arrives at her boyfriend's house. Unknown to her, he has become homosexual and a strange situation develops climaxing in a lesbian ambush.
