Blood and Steel

In the years before World War II, a penniless Japanese child is torn from her family to work as a maid in a geisha house.

The story of a group of men, an Army Rifle company called C-for-Charlie, who change, suffer, and ultimately make essential discoveries about themselves during the fierce World War II battle of Guadalcanal. It follows their journey, from the surprise of an unopposed landing, through the bloody and exhausting battles that follow, to the ultimate departure of those who survived.

An eight-year-old boy is willing to do whatever it takes to end World War II so he can bring his father home. The story reveals the indescribable love a father has for his little boy and the love a son has for his father.

Aspiring to an easy job as personal physician to a wealthy family, Noboru Yasumoto is disappointed when his first post after medical school takes him to a small country clinic under the gruff doctor Red Beard. Yasumoto rebels in numerous ways, but Red Beard proves a wise and patient teacher. During World War II, a secret agent must seduce then assassinate an official who works for the Japanese puppet government in Shanghai. Her mission becomes clouded when she finds herself falling in love with the man she is assigned to kill.

When a prostitute is found dead in a Los Angeles skyscraper occupied by a large Japanese corporation, detectives John Connor and Web Smith are called in to investigate. Although Connor has previous experience working in Japan, cultural differences make their progress difficult until a security disc showing the murder turns up. Close scrutiny proves the disc has been doctored, and the detectives realize they're dealing with a cover-up as well.

While attempting to win her back, Zenjiro becomes involved in increasingly murderous palace intrigues.

A junior high school student spends his nights hanging out at the disco. At home his parents are more interested in swapping partners with willing couples than spending time with their son. One evening, while shoplifting, a young woman gives him a hand and helps him pull off the snatch. Mesmerized by the woman he follows her to where she lives. After he makes a fumbled attempt at raping her she lets him stay and they spend a lazy summer together.
