Chronicles from Kashmir seeks to create a sense of “balance”: between differently positioned voices that emerge when speaking about Kashmir; between differently placed narratives on the “victim”/“perpetrator” spectrum. While there is an inevitable streak of political commentary that runs throughout the work – a political current that cannot be escaped when talking about Kashmir – Chronicles from Kashmir does not espouse any one political ideology. We see ourselves as being artists and educators, using aesthetics and pedagogy to engage audiences with diverse perspectives from/about the Valley.

On their way back home from a baseball academy’s tryouts, Pedro and Lucio are taken hostage and turned over to a criminal group. The teenage friends are forced to fight each other to death; Pedro defeats Lucio and manages to escape. Pedro receives help and refuge with Lucio’s family and he witnesses the family’s collapse and pain. Pedro is tormented with guilt and fear, he cannot tell his friend’s family the truth.

As she desperately searches for Ed, a terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues with the mysterious assailants. But what do they want and what horrors do they have planned for the two newcomers?

While pulling lobster traps from the sea, fishing couple Sara and Ben recover a buoy containing half a million dollars. Ben hopes to use the money on booze and babes while Sara sees the cash as her ticket out of her unhappy marriage and miserable coastal village.
