Roughshod, neither shoddy or rough. Roughshod is directed by Mark Robson and collectively written by Peter Viertel, Hugo Butler and Daniel Mainwaring. It stars Gloria Grahame, Robert Sterling, John Ireland, Claude Jarman Jr, Jeff Donnell, Myrna Dell and Martha Hyer. Music is by Roy Webb and cinematography by Joseph Biroc. Mary Wells (Grahame) and her "dance hall" co-workers Elaine, Helen and Marcia, have been forced out of town by the reform element and are heading for Sonoma, California. When their wagon breaks down they are pleased to find Clay Phillips (Sterling) and his kid brother Steve (Jarman) on the trail and Mary asks for their help. Clay grudgingly agrees to take them on to the next ranch, fully aware that he has troubles of his own since the psychopathic Lednov (Ireland) has escaped from prison and is hunting Clay for revenge purpose. Out of RKO, Roughshod is not an action packed genre piece, this is very much about characters in life transition, people chasing dreams whilst attempting to cast off previous life demons. It starts in shocking fashion but then settles into a splendidly pot boiling rhythm. Untapped sexual tensions begin to arise, the cat and mousery of emotional states engrossing, while secrets will out and destinies are about to be formed for better and worse as it happens... Mark Robson was coming off of a run of films under the atmospheric guidance of Val Lewton, and Roughshod bears all the visual hallmarks of those fine pictures. With cinematographer Biroc (The Frightened City/Cry Danger) photographing for mood purpose, and Robson having his characters shuffle about eerily throughout the night time sequences, there's a dreamy quality about proceedings. That is until we at various times switch to the escaped convicts and their journey towards Clay and the girls, they be a constant menacing threat that looms large, Lednov (Ireland wonderfully scary) a mad wolf in the fold. With visual styling in place, Roughshod also has film noir credentials bursting from the seams elsewhere, one look at the cast is evidence of that. Then there is one Daniel Mainwaring (AKA: Geoffrey Homes), who can count Out of the Past as one of his literary superlatives. The writing is thoughtful and sensitive in how the "working girls" are drawn, while the key relationship between Mary (Grahame owning every scene she is in) and Clay simmers away with dialogue spicy as he fights his moral code by wanting her - and she revels in knowing this fact! This is very much something of an underseen little treat for fans of film noir type Westerns, so fans of such should seek it out. 7/10

The fourth Waltons reunion TV movie is set in the 1960s , with John-Boy still living in New York, trying to persuade his fiancée to marry him. Meanwhile, Ben and Cindy's daughter Virginia has died, and Cindy is finding life very lonely without her. She tells Ben that she would dearly love to adopt another baby, but Ben feels that it is not a good idea. Ben argues with his father about buying a new truck for their lumber company, but John keeps insisting that they can't afford it. Elsewhere, Erin now has three children and is separated from Paul. Her decision to start seeing another man causes some indignation among the other Walton family members. Ike and Corabeth become grandparents when Aimee has a daughter, while Elizabeth returns from Europe and reunites with Drew, her old beau.
This film explores the consequences of the decisions we take and shows those things which really matter. After leaving his wife and children and promising he would be back, a man lives in a tent at a Mexico City park. There, he earns his living by selling balloons. After 30 years, he needs to fulfill his promise and return home. Will his family accept him back? Is he going to be able to change a life on the streets for the comfort of his home?

Leni initiates a cover-up and Rafi figures out the body is probably Leni's father. The body disappears and without telling the rest of the family what they know, Leni and Rafi organize a search for dad. Mom is sure he's having an affair. Leni's belly-dancing sister kisses Rafi. Her brother grabs a rifle to shoot the Arab. Can anything be put right?

Eddy hits the slopes and has a near death experience where God appears to her and tells her it's not yet her time. When Eddy comes to, she waits for a sign that she should get involved in Saffy's wedding. As she returns to the house, it appears all hell has broken loose- relatives piling up, practically squatting, and Saffy about to lose her mind. Eddy calms her by throwing money at her as they bond together, planning Saffy's dream wedding. What could go wrong?
A holiday celebration with the extended family gets stretched to the breaking point in this comedy from Germany. Sara is happily married to Jan, though this wasn't always the case - Sara is Jan's second wife, while Sara has three ex-husbands, Gunnar, Andi and Erich, and she and Jan are raising children from each of their previous marriages. Jan is less than thrilled with the prospect of spending the holidays with Sara's mother, but things get worse when he learns his wife has planned a surprise for Christmas eve - they'll be joined by Gunnar, Andi and Erich, as well as Erich's new wife Pauline, Andi's current spouse Rita and his own ex-wife, Eva. To call the atmosphere uncomfortable is an understatement, and things only get worse when Sara announces she's pregnant, which is quite troubling for Jan since he's been waiting for the right time to tell her he had a vasectomy several months before.
