Whiffles, the awkwardly funny comedian, after reading an ad, offers his services to Pathe Freres as a moving picture actor. The illness of a leading man gives Whiffles an opportunity to show his ability. His experiences as a lover are highly diverting, as, in a situation of this kind. Whiffles is unequaled. A few days later, however, the husband of Whiffles' leading lady sees the picture in a theater. Being of a mean and jealous disposition he challenges to a duel. Whiffles accepts and although a loser, the manner of his defeat will win him many new admirers and delight his old friends.

He buys the magic wand of Professor Jinks and marches bravely home. He arrives late for dinner and his wife aims a blow at him. He touches her with the magic wand, but, alas, with the wrong end, producing two wives instead of making one disappear. The wives combine forces, take the magic wand away and pound the unfortunate Whiffles until he apologizes.

While the old man continues to play cards with his pals, Rigadin and the young wife go into a room; the husband soon follows and kicks him out. But when he dons a different hat, he isn't recognized. It's a very slight addition to Prince's series as Rigadin, and at times seems a trifle incoherent to modern viewers, most of whom have never seen a formal hat of any description. Instead they will notice the pulled faces and painted backdrops, as Prince tries and fails to make this minor one-reel comedy more interesting. With Suzanne Demay and Armand Lurville.

A Race for a Handkerchief

Gus is making violent love to his cousin Sue, to whom he is engaged, when all at once, he has a desire to sneeze and finds to his consternation that he is without that very necessary article, a pocket handkerchief. Becoming very much excited in his embarrassment, he begins turning his pockets inside out and getting redder and looking more awkward every minute, until Sue, becoming disenchanted with her foolish looking lover, hastens to greet Arthur, whom she sees approaching. It is plain that the latter is gaining ground with Miss Sue, when all at once he begins to sneeze and is unable also to locate his handkerchief. He forgets that on entering he had laid it with his hat on the table, where Gus was fortunate to find it and owing to which good fortune the latter is able to regain the side of his fiancée, who is now alone, as Arthur, feeling that awful tickling sensation in his nose, had to flee.

Charles Prince has grown wealthy, put on a fat suit and combed his hair to show he is balding. Meanwhile, his brother (also played by Prince) has failed to prosper, so he wears a flat cap. The wealthy one refuses to help his brother, so the poor one goes to a lake, writes a suicide note, and.... his brother comes along and reads the note. Now the wealthy one imagines his brother dead and sees his face everywhere, particularly on other people.

Unfortunately, at the moment of the coronation, the Mayor wants to kiss the lucky lady who must lift her veil and the whole village recognizes Rigadin. Shame and confusion for our unfortunate friend who escapes his critical situation by fleeing. Fortunately, the young fiancée has managed to escape from the prison where she had been locked up by suitors ousted at the price of virtue; she arrives in time to collect the bonus and the laurels and rehabilitate Rigadin.

He wants to give his sweetheart the impression that he is a fine singer and as he has no voice he employs a capable tenor to supply the music from behind the screen while he makes the necessary facial expressions. In the midst of a song the voice ceases, but Whiffles goes on without it much to everybody's amusement.
